TANSITIONAL WORK THERAPY, (TWT) EVALUATION – (WO637)

• Musculoskeletal Evaluation
• Take medical history
• Measure range of motion and manual muscle testing
• Discuss and OBSERVE full duty and modified duty work activities
• Perform work specific functional capacity evaluation using actual full duty work activities to accurately evaluate the patient’s current functional abilities as they pertain to the full duty job
• Staff with Human Resources and supervisory staff to discuss patient’s current work capacity and discuss plan to progress patient’s work capacity using Transitional Work Therapy

COMPREHENSIVE FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY EVALUATION (FCE)

• Very thorough evaluation that examines all aspects of function
• Evaluation takes approximately 3 hours
• Test mobility, positional tolerances, and lift/carrying maximums using work simulation techniques
• Usually the patient has no job to return to so the evaluation is done in the clinic and is not specific to any type of job
• Can be completed at the job site if the employee has a job to return but the employer is not able to accommodate Transitional Work Therapy at the worksite for this injured employee.

ERGONOMIC STUDY (W0644)

• An analysis of how a worker responds when performing the job in relation to his ability
• Examines the “fit” between the worker and the job requirements
• Used to evaluate the risks of the job
• Makes recommendations for job modifications

JOB ANALYSIS (W0645)

• Process for examining a job and collecting measurements while the job is being performed
• It explains what the worker does
• Outlines the essential functions of the job
• Describes the physical demands of the required tasks
