ON-SITE PHYSICAL/OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY (USING CPT CODES)
On-Site Physical/Occupational Therapy is an Ohio BWC approved service that allows the employee to have therapy services, which may normally occur at a clinic setting, occur at the worksite. The licensed physical/occupational therapist brings the treatment regimen to the injured employee at the work-site. On-Site Physical/Occupational Services Include:
- Average treatment time is 1 to 1.5 hours per session
- Billed using standard CPT codes
- Treatments and exercises that would be performed as if in the clinic
- One-on-One with the injured employee by the Physical or Occupational Therapist
TRANSITIONAL WORK THERAPY (W0637)
A progressive return-to-work program endorsed and encouraged by the Ohio BWC. The program is individualized for the specific worker for his/her specific job. The program is aimed at transitioning a worker with physical limitations/restrictions back to the original or targeted job task, within a specific time period.
- Ohio BWC Code (W0637)
- Billed at 45.00 per 15 minutes
- Average program is about 1.5 to 2 hours at 2-3 times per week
- TWT can be done during 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift
- Patient may perform active stretching and strengthening exercises as needed
- Therapist uses actual work activities as therapy exercises
- Patient’s job duties will be carefully progressed by the therapist until injured worker reaches full duty status
- Therapists communicates with the Human Resources and supervisory staff regarding the injured workers progress
- Restrictions are progressed by the therapist at the worksite ensuring the physician of record is included in the plan for the injured worker
